Nice little Alentejo town.
Nice little Alentejo town.
Very beautiful to walk around with several historic locations for sight seeing. Paço Ducal and the Castle are the best
Plenty of quality offers to eat, like Craft BBS
Several other places of interest close by, all of which you can visit with the kids
The entire property is elegant, and well maintained. We had the huge studio which opens onto the courtyard, what a beautiful spot to relax and unwind. The hotel owner is an exceptionally lovely lady who told us about the history of the house and of the area. The large studio had good heaters and we were warm, the bed had lots of covers and was cozy for sleeping. The pool is not yet open in March but looked very inviting. We picked oranges, lemons and tangerines from the trees. The breakfast and coffee were very good.
This highly recommended property, is a family country home owned by a truly very lovely couple Maria Joao and Pedro. Surrounded by lovely countryside there are chickens, sheep, a beautiful Alentejo Rafeiro dog Oscar, a tiny dog CeCe. This peaceful property is just 3kms from the small, pretty town of Vila Viçosa. Guests have a large well appointed suite that opens up onto a terrace and a swimming pool. Maria Joao prepares a really superb breakfast. We spent four nights and wish we had stayed a little longer. Next time!
The building has some lovely spaces for guests to enjoy. Our suite overlooking the pool was spacious with an adjoining comfortable seating area and nice balconies . The 4 poster bed was very comfortable. There was music available in all rooms . We found street parking near the hotel. Good restaurants, the palace and castle are a short stroll. The staff were very friendly, especially the lady running the breakfast room. The breakfast selection was good.
Absolutely amazing! The family running this property were sensitive to one's every need. Was more than an hotel.
The bathrooms had amazing facilities, where marble is the local industry (see museum in Vila Vicosa).
Rooms and public areas well air-conditioned. Sights in the area five-star, from those in the town to the four forts and walled city of Elvas, half an hour's easy ride away. Easy to get to from Lisbon or the South.
Great location (in the centre of Vila Viçosa, right next to Palácio Ducal), comfy bedroom, tasty and plentiful breakfast with lots of homemade and locally produced products, pet friendly, amazing space for relaxing and plenty of activities for families. Wish we could have spent more days there!
Wonderful large room with historic furnishings.Bathroom was very big with beautiful tiles.Loved the big thick walled corridors and little snippets of history everywhere. Old wall frescoes an old chapel.Big comfortable lounges. Our bikes had a parking place in the pousada in an old hallway.
The breakfast was outstanding and vibe around the pool was very nice. Dinner was also excellent - we had planned to eat a different restaurant on our second night, but we decided to eat at the hotel again because it was so delicious. The staff were also very nice and helpful!
This historical convent was turned into a hotel in the 1990's. The building, with its architecture, murals and courtyards, is charming. However the hotel needs to be updated... new mattresses and modernized bathrooms would be a plus.
Dona Manuela was very friendly. The hotel is magnificent. Very good quality/price. The surrounding of the hotel is also very nice. The inside garden with the swimming pool and all the flowers and fragrances was superb.
The hotel was in a great location.
The front desk was great.
If you need good internet this can be a problem.
They gave me an extender which worked well.
Highly recommend this property.
Huge space, well taken care of, clean, comfortable. You sit by the window, and the castle of Vila Viçosa is right there across the street. Will return for sure.
Such wonderful, friendly staff who made us feel so welcome in their beautiful and unique hotel. The pool was a glorious respite from the heat. We loved it.
