My husband and I travel a lot, and out of everywhere we’ve been Pousada Recanto da Lua sticks out as our absolute favorite place. We rarely write reviews, but had to for this place. First of all, the mountain views are stunning. The food and drinks in the restaurant are homemade and fantastic. They always have fresh high-quality coffee available. The bed and and the bedding were the most comfortable we’ve had in any pousada in Brazil. The Wi-Fi was the fastest and most reliable of anywhere we’ve stayed. Breakfast starts early enough that you can have a great meal in time to start a hike up Pico Da Bandeira. The overall attention to detail and care at this pousada is wonderful. The location is perfect. Only ten minutes (at most) to the entrance to Parque Nacional Do Caparao, which has come to be one of my favorite national parks ever. What really sets this property above all others, however, is the owners and the staff of Pousada Recanto da Lua. As an American traveling in Brazil, reactions to being an estrangeira can vary quite a bit. By the end of our stay, the owners and staff at this pousada felt like my family. They were some of the warmest and most welcoming people I have met, and they all went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. We will be coming back here for sure, and would recommend it to anyone.
